Musei Capitolini's Virtual Tour
Today we propose the virtual itinerary to the Musei Capitolini, the oldest public museum in the world founded in 1471 by Sixtus IV with the donation of the great bronzes that were kept in the buildings of the Lateran.
Throughout history, various popes expanded the initial collection with works drawn from excavations carried out around Rome.
Today the museum collections are exhibited in two of the three buildings located in Piazza del Campidoglio: Palazzo dei Conservatori and Palazzo Nuovo.
